Within a matter of a few minutes the entire Hip Hop community was shaken to its core and a family lost their patriarch, their father, their leader. Nipsey Hussle was a true champion of independent growth, hence his moniker. Nipsey Hussle was a supremely unique individual that balanced his talent and divinity with an approachability, humble mentality and all around philanthropic approach to his interactions with fans, his hometown and more specifically the neighborhood in which he lost his life. At the age of 33, he left behind more than broken hearts and honest music. Nipsey Hussle showed the world that the smartest minds can come from the places too easily dismissed by the powerful and elite. His legacy will only be strengthened as time passes, as the seeds he planted continue to grow.
As a testament to his intelligence, streaming or purchasing any of his music will allow his family to reap all of the residuals, he owned all of the masters to his songs. In the short-term we want answers and justice but in the long-term lets focus on what he meant to us and not on the incident or perpetrator. Let us shine the light on what Nipsey Hussle taught us and the amazing path he carved along the way. A man that showed us that you can count on yourself and not change. A man that inspired every person he came in contact with along his journey. A man that gave everything to those that loved him. Nipsey Hussle was, and still is, the people’s champion.
