Last night in Phoenix, AZ there was a Hip Hop show unlike any other. The master of the machine gun flow, the monster of the midway, Twista performed at The Monarch Theater and in one word the night was unreal. The local Hip Hop scene in Phoenix, AZ has grown exponentially since the last time Twista graced the stage at The Monarch Theater. So while you might have caught a glimpse of his performance last time, it was nothing like last night.
Respect The Underground have done such a great job of transforming their venue. They partnered with Select to create an inviting second stage that reflects the core of Hip Hop through aesthetic. They have utilized this success to refine their platform for up and coming artists to perform with, let's be honest, Hip Hop superstars and the artists showed they were up to the task last night. Artists like Miss V, KT Gipson, Louie Lee, Tevo, and many more gave great performances that kept the energy rising throughout the night. When Twista arrived the packed crowd was oozing with excitement and vigor. They wanted more and Twista fed them. Reciting older and newer tracks with the same effort and intensity showed the mastery of this lyrical juggernaut. Twista transcends genres in Hip Hop, old and new heads love him and by the looks of the crowd last night his wave is still going.
