"Mercy" was a huge success back in 2012 and the quartet of artists that made the hit track have all had various degrees of success since but recently 2 Chainz proclaimed that he was the best on the track amongst the four emcees. Big Sean, one of the other three artists in the song, did not think 2 Chainz was correct in his assertion of being the best in the song.
“I immediately called him like, ‘What the fuck you talkin’ about bro?'” Sean said in an interview discussing the statements made by 2 Chainz. “He was like, ‘No, no, I wasn’t talking about you, bro. I was talkin’ about the whole game. Obviously everybody on there was going crazy. I’m like, ‘That’s not how it seemed.’
“He was like, ‘Nah, bro.’ I told him, I was like, ‘Nigga, as far as ‘Mercy’ goes, I was the first one doing my verse on the song. Like, it was just the beat and I freestyled my verse. Like, I did it without trying and Kanye was the one who loved it so much."
Big Sean also said he got a lot of praise for the verse and said he set the tone for the song without even trying, a claim that 2 Chainz does not deny. “He didn’t have no objections to that,” Sean reiterated. “He knew. I’ve done a lot of songs with 2 Chainz. I was gonna be like, ‘Oh OK, I got you on ‘K.O’ and ‘All Me’ and ‘Big Bank.’ But that’s my brother. We was just really kinda kidding around.”
