Can you believe that we are only 18 days until the 6th Annual Arizona Hip Hop Festival? That means everyone is looking at the lineups and trying to decide which artists to catch live. We wanted to help highlight some artists you should check out when the biggest Hip Hop event in Arizona commences for the sixth year in a row. Here is your favorite new band Dropout Kings.
If you thought Nu-Metal was missing from the Arizona Hip Hop Festival then you’re correct, and it is with great exuberance that I get to say that problem is being rectified by Arizona’s own Dropout Kings. The six members of DK do more than just make music that is making people call them the new masters of Nu-Metal. These six friends try to live in the balance of life. They make great music without letting the weight of trying to create the amazing music they create crush their spirits or inflate their egos. Watch any interview with Adam, Eddie, Chucky, Staig, Trevor and Rob, you’ll see a deep appreciation for people showing them love. Anytime they get complimented on performances or their songs, their faces light up like a Christmas tree. And they sure have been racking up the compliments with their album AUDIODOPE dropping earlier year and taking the Hip Hop and Rock scenes by storm. The album is stacked with instant classics like “Scatch & Claw” for example, where they blend together influences of Linkin Park and Rage Against The Machine with their personal flair to create a Trap Metal anthem. The band came together in 2015 after Adam Ramey and Eddie Wellz did a cover of “Lying From You” from Linkin Park and Adam brought in his previous bandmates Chucky, Trevor, Rob & Staig to join them. By 2018 they were signed to Napalm Records and it’s safe to say they fit well on a label with hands that are known for having intense performances. They create music with their live show in mind, making sure to take into account how it will play to the fans in attendance. Their performance at the Gathering of the Juggalos as well as being on tour with OTEP has allowed them to branch out and prove that a band that had to change their name from Phoenix Down to Dropout Kings is still all about Arizona. Don't miss this amazing band and their headlining performance this year at the 6th Annual Arizona Hip Hop Festival.
